Dr. William T. Black is a 1992 graduate of Pacific University College of Optometry and was the founder of Family Eyecare Specialists in Caldwell, Idaho. With his vision to strive and provide exceptional products and services, Dr. Black increased Family Eyecare Specialists to five locations, over fifty staff and eight full time doctors before being acquired by a private equity firm in 2019.
After practicing Optometry in Idaho for 30 years, Dr. Black retired from Family Eyecare Specialists and pursued an opportunity to provide comprehensive eye care services for residents living in Kwajalein Atoll, Republic of the Marshall Islands. This amazing island community of approximately 1,200 people consists of mostly American military, government and sponsored contract personnel and families. Bi-annual trips allow Dr. Black to spend eight professionally rewarding weeks each year on “Kwaj Island.” He is thankful and gracious for this unique opportunity.
Additionally, his professional time requires traveling as a national contact lens speaker and facilitator for Alcon Vision, as well as the West Regional Director for Keplr Vision Services. In 2025, the Governor appointed Dr. Black to a five- year term on the Idaho State Board of Optometry.
Personally, Dr. Black has always been intrigued by a variety of business and real estate ventures. He enjoys traveling, hot yoga, golf, social hours, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
